A public service announcement featuring Heidi Brown, MD, Assistant Professor Obstetrics & Gynecology, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health speaking on the topic of accidental bowel leakage (ABL). Dr. Brown explains that ABL is surprisingly common, affecting tens of millions of women and men in the United States. There are number of conditions that can lead to bowel leakage: inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), diabetes, neurologic problems, radiation to the pelvic floor, or trauma because of either an accident or vaginal birth.

According to Dr. Brown, having this terminology to talk about this condition is going to make it easier for us to start the conversation.
